The people behind TravelTrends.io
A researcher-led project tracking emerging travel behaviors — running tourism, trail travel, cycling and beyond — with data, field work and interviews across the industry.

I'm Carmen Gerea — researcher, endurance athlete and digital strategist.
I've spent 23 years helping brands grow through content, design, technology and data — across corporate, consulting and academic roles.
Romanian by origin, trained in France, Canada and Chile, where I've been based for 14 years. I speak four languages and I'm currently a PhD candidate in Engineering (Human–Computer Interaction) at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
TravelTrends.io grew out of a simple observation: the way people travel is changing faster than the industry can measure it. Running tourism, trail travel and other endurance-driven behaviors are shifting demand toward new destinations, new stays and new operators — and most of that data sits scattered or hidden.
I run the events I write about — Chicago, Paris, Patagonia, Valencia, Bucovina — because being in the field is how signal becomes insight.
Why TravelTrends.io exists
- Emerging travel behaviors are under-measured — most industry data lags 12–24 months behind reality.
- Destinations, hotels and operators need early signals to allocate marketing, inventory and product.
- Runners, cyclists and adventure travelers already vote with their feet — we make that vote visible.
